Bun was truly one of the greatest high school football players I have ever witnessed. I was a sophomore when he was a senior & plyed at Rider with his brother Roger. Certainly many members of the team contributed to his success, but his toughness was beyond comprehension. The best example I can give was a game his senior year when he broke bones in his back (transverse processes). He left the game before half time but came back & completed the game & was a deciding factor in the win. Most people with this injury can’t walk or do anything athletic & some even have to be hospitalized for pain control.i’m happy to see this award named after Bub.
I thought the story line was great .. but the only problem was people didnt seem really emotional in thier own way they seemed forced to be put in the video. Overall i thought the song and the pictures really through everything together .
this is increadibly amazing that this happens like its made mme realize how old rider is haha no but honestly its amazing and i didnt eaven know that T.J won that award cant wait for next years winner.
Bub, bless his heart was a tremendous football player, but, I am not certain people realized he was a member of the Rider HS A Acappella choir for two years as well. Sang second tenor and had a fine voice. Many times the choir and myself would applaud him when he would walk into choir class after a tough game. He was truly beaten up nearly every game and gave everything he had.
I was his director, and I loved him very much because he was a beautiful example of a clean-cut dependable member of our society.
Sincerely

A great big “Thank you!” to everyone responsible for recognizing tha achievements of my brother. It is important that everyone understands that Bub did not run for over 4,000 yards without a lot of help. James Vanderslice and a lot of other Raiders blocked for him. He had a great supporting cast, for which Bub was always thankful. Bub was tough, had great balance as a runner, and would play hurt. Prior to his death, Bub was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and concern shown to him. He just couldn’t believe so many people cared about him. Thanks once again for an excellent tribute.

I think that is great that they changed the name of the award. Bub was obviously a great player and deserves to be honored by the school.
