Hi! Just wondering if anyone at S. H. Rider High School remembers who composed their school song (Alma Mater). I wrote in in the two weeks before Rider HS opened in 1961. Started the choral department with bare walls and retired from there in 1993 after 32 years there. I traveled with my A Cappella Choirs to Canada, Mexico (twice), Europe and Lubbock/Dallas and Austin, Texas on concert tours. We had 44 guys and 44 girls in the choir every year. Performed double choir and triple choir compositions numerous times. 98% sacred music. Up to 470 students in five choirs, every day.
I also wrote the music only to the Barwise Junior High School Alma Mater.
Just a factoid for you students there at Rider.

We definitely know Mr. Cowan wrote the Alma Mater! It’s in the yearbook. 🙂
