The themes of saying goodbye and tying up loose ends can be seen across all of the major events happening this semester.
Every organization has been tasked with the difficult job of wrapping up decades-long traditions, and leaving behind everything they’ve known at Rider.
All of the spring sports will be wrapping up their final seasons, with softball and baseball being the last team sports to finish competing.
In the fine arts department, preparations are being made across the board to ensure the last events and shows are the perfect grand finale.
Band was not anticipating being able to do electronica this year, so the percussion section is excited to finish out their time together performing in a crowd-favorite variety show with music, lights, and fun for all.
Theatre is currently in rehearsals for their final UIL one-act play competition in March where they will perform “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.” The district festival where all the high schools will perform their one-acts is on March 9.
Choir’s final concert on May 13 will have a reception after where paraphernalia and merchandise from every decade of the organization will be auctioned off.
After the long winter weeks everyone can look forward to spring break which will be March 11-15 this year.
A few weeks after spring break is prom, which will be on April 6. The theme this year is “roll the credits.” Single tickets are $30 and couples are $50.
Senior celebration will be some time in May, but a date has not been set yet. More information will be released in the coming weeks.
Finally, graduation will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Memorial Stadium. Rider’s graduation will be the last of the three schools that are closing.
Going to as many events as you can is a great way to show support to your class and this school, because this bittersweet time we have left together is short, and this semester will go by so fast.
