Not only is senior Eden Wolf the captain of the 63rd and final Rider color guard, but she’s been a member of the organization since seventh grade.
The Rider Chronicle talked with Wolf about the last year for Rider color guard, her favorite memories and some of her goals for the year.
Q: What made you want to be in color guard?
A: All of my sisters did it and realized I might as well be something while in high school, and so a lot of it was just I wanted to be a part of something big and that’s what band and color guard was.
Q: What are your goals for guard in the last year?
A: Get placed really well in band and winter guard and overall be able to pass over really important memories to the new schools and of what the new guard should look like and to know how to achieve.
Q: What are some memories you’ve made this year?
A: A lot of them happened on the bus and summer band memories, like there was times we were inside and we would ramble about TV shows we watched and gossip with the coaches. Like “Oh my gosh you’ll never guess what,” and it really creates a fun environment to be a part of.
Q: How have you grown from your first year in guard?
A: I’ve learned how to be confident and social. I’ve also learned to not put up with stuff I don’t approve of, and I know that I can voice my opinion. If people don’t like it, then oh well.
Q: How has color guard changed you as a person?
A: More confident and it just allowed me to know that if people don’t feel like they’re welcome, you can let them know that they’re welcome. Like, “Hey I’m here if you need to talk” and if someone’s there for you.
Q: What are you going to miss after you graduate?
A: The directors definitely and seeing them every morning and waking up at an extremely early time. Seeing other people who are also just as tired as me and know that they can understand each other.
