Ava Bronaugh has been in cheer ever since she was four years old, and over the past year, she has made improvements as a cheer captain for her team. She is currently seeking more opportunities for her last year at Rider High School.

The Rider Chronicle recently talked with Bronaugh on why she chose to be cheer captain and what inspired her to do so.

Q: How has it been being a cheer captain for Rider’s last year so far?

A: I really love being a cheer captain, especially because I’m the last one. It’s just been an honor to be the last cheer captain of Rider.

Q: How long have you been in cheer and why have you stayed this long

A: I’ve been cheering since I was four and I’ve just been doing it my whole life because it’s something that I love and it’s just my favorite thing.

Q: What do you want to accomplish for your senior year, both personally and within cheer?

A: I think my main thing is just like, I want to be remembered as a good leader to the girls on the team. I guess just getting through my last year of high school and then going to college.

Q: What have you learned as a cheer member?

A: That not everybody is going to like you, but just keep a good attitude. 

Q: What impact have you made on your team members?

A: I think I’ve made a positive impact with just bringing positivity and good attitudes to the team and just overall like team bonding.

Q: What will you miss once you leave?

A: Just being on cheer in general, the pep rallies, the games, putting my uniform on, those things.

Q: Do you think you will find a way to keep cheer as a part of your life after high school?

A: I’m considering attending MSU.I might cheer at MSU, but I don’t know.

Q: What will you miss most about cheerleading and being a part of the team once you leave Rider High School?

A: I‘ll miss just sharing with my best friends on the team and just having the fun high school football game experiences and just the fun that comes together.
