Q/A’s with Mr. and Miss Raider nominees

With the Mr. and Miss Raider nominees being announced a few weeks ago, the nominees have been hard at work. On top of practicing for their Round-Up pep rally dance and video interviews, each nominee sat down with the Rider Chronicle to discuss their feelings of being nominated and shed light on their involvement in the school.

Voting for the nominees will take place after Thursday’s assembly. The final Mr. and Miss Raider will be announced this Saturday at the Round-Up dance.

ELAINE AU

What does Miss Raider represent?

Miss Raider is someone who is able to represent Rider well through encouraging others and showing school spirit. It’s someone who is a leader all-around.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s crazy because I didn’t know people knew me. It’s pretty cool to know that people thought that I was decent enough to be a candidate.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m a senior class officer, involved in PALS, STUCO and choir.

 TATUM AVERY

What does Mr. Raider represent?

To me, Mr. Raider represents the person who represents the senior class. It’s someone everybody looks to when they think of our class.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It feels really exciting. I thought I would make it, but I didn’t think I would get this far. It fills me with happiness that I get to do it.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m involved in regular band, theatre, jazz band and marching band.

COLEMAN BLEDSOE

What does Mr. Raider represent?

Someone who has the core values that the school represents.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s really cool.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m involved in football and PALS.

TATE CASWELL

What does Mr. Raider represent?

Mr. Raider represents someone who is kind and a friend to everyone. 

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

I’m really honored and excited to be nominated.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m the student body president, PALS vice president, NHS officer, involved in choir and a senior class officer.

KATE CHRISTOFF

What does Miss Raider represent?

Miss Raider represents what it means to be a true Raider. That could be different for everybody, but to me it’s someone who is outgoing, inviting, accepting and a well-rounded person. 

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

I’m very honored to be nominated for Miss Raider because I try my hardest to be kind to all and open up to everyone.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m the PALS president, involved in STUCO, NHS and I campaigned over the announcements for anti-bullying month.

REESE FRANTOM

What does Mr. Raider represent?

Being a good role model and representing the school.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

Shocking because I didn’t know I’d be a nominee at all.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m in football and baseball.

ISABELLA GROVES

What does Miss Raider represent?

The embodiment of a Rider Raider. It’s someone who is a good example and representative of our class.  

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s a huge honor to be a finalist. It felt great to know that my fellow classmates think highly of me to the point to have me represent them as a whole.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I am a senior class officer, president of FCA, part of the E-sports media team, a captain of the soccer team, involved in STUCO and NHS and a member of yearbook.

JOSHUA HAWKINS

What does Mr. Raider represent?

Someone people can look up to and someone who is held in a good regard and has good character.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s weird, I didn’t think I’d be here. I did not expect to make it this far.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m vice president of the Drama Club.

SANDRA LE

What does Miss Raider represent?

Miss Raider is someone who is kindhearted and confidently represents the school with an open mind. It’s someone who is selfless and does not hesitate to help others.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

Freshman year me was definitely not expecting this. It’s like something out of a movie, honestly. When you’re young, it’s like a dream and you don’t think it’s actually going to happen to you, but it’s an honor.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m the senior class president and assignments editor in newspaper. I’m also involved in student council, NHS, pals and I’m also the secretary in choir.

LOUIS LOPEZ

What does Mr. Raider represent?

Someone who is involved in the school.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s crazy. I didn’t think I was going to make it this far. It was a big surprise to me.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m a designer for the yearbook.

KENDRICK MARKS

What does Mr. Raider represent?

One word: leadership. 

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It is crazy because it means my peers look up to me. 

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

Football, track and basketball.  

NICHOLE MUSIC

What does Miss Raider represent? 

I think that it’s a unique thing to our school, because it’s a peer-voted person. Kind of a friend to everybody, somebody that everyone appreciates. It’s not usually like you’d see the more popular kids that don’t necessarily have the best character, but this is a peer-voted thing. I think it represents a good role model in the school that everybody actually does appreciate.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

I’m very honored that people think so highly of me, I’m happy.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

Quite a few. I’m an officer in Mu Alpha Theta, an FCA officer and NHS officer. I do worship at the First Baptist Church and I’m trying to do science UIL, which is fun, even though I’ve only been to one meeting.

RAMONA RAINBOLT

What does Miss Raider represent?

It represents someone who is a leader.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s nerve wracking, but it’s honestly a great honor that my peers think of me as someone who is capable of representing Rider.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I play softball and I am on the yearbook editing staff.

KARIS WARD

What does Miss Raider represent?

I think that being Miss Raider is someone who is involved in the schools, loves everyone and sets a good example for other students.

How does it feel to be nominated as a finalist?

It’s just an honor to be nominated and to know that my peers think that I’m a good candidate. I’m really excited.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in at Rider?

I’m involved in art, PALS and STUCO.
