Rider pitcher Maverick Folmar signed to play baseball with Vernon College and then looked forward to his senior baseball season. 

However, the quick spread of Coronavirus has forced spring athletic and academic activities into a standstill with nothing allowed to go on for at least the next month. The Rider Chronicle sat down with Folmar to discuss his opinions about an uncertain situation. 

Q: What are your opinions on the postponement of your season?

A: It’s bittersweet. I would’ve liked to finish the season and seen what it had in store, but I feel like the decisions that were made to prevent the spread of the virus were needed to be made for the good of the community. 

Q: How has this decision impacted you? 

A: Honestly, it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would. I’ve spent a lot of time working out and spent much-needed time with my family.

Q: How do you feel now that the rest of your season possibly being over?

A: It’s pretty disappointing to say the least. I would’ve liked to spend more time with the boys I’ve played with my whole life, but it is what it is. You’ve gotta look for the positives in situations like these.

Q: How does it feel being a senior in this type of situation?

A: It was kind of weird, I didn’t really expect something like this to happen, but life goes on. 

Q: How do you feel about the last game possibly being your last? 

A: Honestly all I remember is that we lost. So, I guess it wasn’t all that big of a deal in the moment because I thought I would get to play more. 

Q: How do you feel about your possibly last game ending with a loss? 

A: It always stinks to lose, but I’ve always had fun with that group of guys winning or losing, so it’s not that unbearable to think about. They were a fun group to play with and that’s more important to me than any win or loss.
