Last season varsity boys basketball fell short of their goal dropping out of the playoffs after their first game. But this season a new team has been born. With a district record of 12-0 they have already been crowned District Champs and clinched a playoff berth. The team has only two games left, but head coach Cliff McGuire has no interest in losing either of those even though they’ve already won district.

“We are focused on a perfect season,” Coach McGuire said. “Our goal is to be 14-0. We don’t see any reason in losing.”

The 78-53 victory against Brewer is just one of the ways that the team has shown their dominance this season. Earlier this season when the teams met, the Raiders only won by two in overtime.

“This year the team’s tempo is faster than last year’s and more work ethic is put in,” Coach McGuire said. “A impact that has helped us to be better this year than last is the chemistry the players have with each other which has helped there to be more passing.”

“The team likes to hang out a lot with each other outside basketball,” McGuire said. “ The guys will put together team dinners to go to Buffalo Wild Wings. They’re all close outside of school and basketball.”

In football season Head Coach Mark Bindle came up with the team motto “The Chase.” Coach McGuire has a motto he likes to use for his team as well: “Next Level.”

“We use Next Level for a motto meaning every amount of success the team brings we want to take it to The Next Level,” McGuire said. “We continue to push each other to get better. Everything we succeed in we want to rise up to the new task and go on to the Next Level.”
