“Rolling the credits” is the theme to Rider’s last prom which will be held Saturday, April 6 at the MPEC.
Junior class officer and Spanish teacher Marina King started planning for this year’s prom at the end of fall.
Coming up with the theme might’ve been the hardest decision for the class officers and King because it’s Rider’s last prom. They want it to be the best so everyone who goes enjoys themselves and makes many memories.
“We are doing a lot of extra things that we haven’t done in the past, but I feel some of the things we want to be a surprise,” King said.
The prom will be held from 8-11 p.m. on April 6. King said if you are bringing a guest from another school, remember to fill out a form and return it to King in advance.
Tickets will be sold through March from any of the junior class officers and King. A singles ticket is $30 and a couples ticket is $50. Dress code for prom is red carpet. The last day to buy tickets is March 28.
Prom planning is always difficult, but this year’s planning is the most difficult because of it being the last year and everyone wanting to make it special. King also said she had to turn in paperwork to buy products two months earlier because of the schools changing.
“I’m trying to rent more stuff than actually buying so that’s another obstacle we’ve have’t had in the past,” King said. “Then also since I’m the PALS sponsor and we are trying to figure out how to do the PALS for next year and trying to get the Hirschi students to get the opportunities to do it.”
King said usually about 275 students attend prom, but she’s hoping to have a larger audience for the last prom ever.
“We wanted to get some place where we could have bigger attendees because we just assumed more people are going to come, so we wanted to make sure it’s big enough,” King said. “I would rather it be too big than not big enough.”
