Memorial and Legacy found out Thursday morning who would be in their districts for the 2024-26 athletic seasons after the UIL released its latest realignment.
The football district is similar to what Rider has been in in the past. Memorial and Legacy will be in District 2-5A Division II with Abilene Cooper, Abilene Wylie, Amarillo Palo Duro, Lubbock-Cooper and Plainview. Lubbock-Cooper moves back into Division II after playing the past two seasons at the D-I level.
Instead of being in a Metroplex district for volleyball and basketball like the past two realignments, those sports will now be in a five-team district in District 4-4A with Abilene Cooper, Abilene Wylie and Abilene High. That means the playoff routes for Memorial and Legacy will take a turn west because 3-4A has Lubbock and Amarillo schools.
The Rider Chronicle will have more information and comments on realignment later today.
