Once again tragedy strikes Colorado, this time in the small town of Aurora. At the premier of the motion picture “The Dark Night Rises” a shooter opened fire into the audience.
Allegedly 24-year-old James E. Holmes opened fire around 12:30 into the crowd, as of last count 71 people were wounded, including 12 dead. Witnesses told reporters some believed it was part of the movie until the tear gas was set off. Aurora police chief Daniel J. Oates told reporters during a news conference “This is a horrific event”. Broadcast companies are pulling advertising for the movie all around, as well as Hollywood taking a closer look at upcoming movie premiers involving gun violence. Victims are still being identified and not all families have been notified, but the police are working hard to inform everyone.
Now we keep the small town in our thoughts and prayers and wait for more information on why this has happened.
