Rider orchestra’s Jun Park and Trent Roth were selected to go to the Texas all-state orchestra and perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention happening Feb. 10.
Orchestra teacher Loy Studer has pushed his students to play the very best they could before the audition which helped the boys to be picked.
“My students have worked so hard for this,” Studer said. “I am very proud of them, they have come so far since I first got to meet and train with them.”
The students will travel to San Antonio to represent Rider High School one final time. These two students will be the last from Rider to be chosen to perform.
Of the two students selected, this will be Roth’s first time to be picked to play during his senior year.
“I feel elated being picked as a senior just as I would being picked as a freshman, sophomore or junior,” Roth said.
Park, a junior, will be making his third trip to state as he has been selected every year since he was a freshman. Park also was selected to be a part of the National Youth Orchestra over the summer.
“I’m really happy, I’m excited to represent Rider at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention one last time,” Park said.
Roth and Park both practiced a lot to be able to be chosen for all-state, especially during the few weeks leading up to the audition.
“For the few weeks leading up to the auditions, I gained some new perspectives from a summer camp that I had attended and it definitely matured my playing,” Roth said.
Roth and Park have the honor of performing one final time to send off Rider’s legacy of going to Texas’s all-state.
